Troopers conducted a traffic stop of Bronx resident Earl Allen, 26, after he committed multiple vehicle and traffic violations on I-84 in Southeast. During the subsequent stop, police said there was a strong smell of marijuana coming from the vehicle, and Allen presented troopers with a fake driver’s license.
Police said that when troopers discovered 4.2 grams of marijuana in his possession, Allen attempted to flee on foot, throwing credit cards and personal checks at pursuing troopers before he was taken into custody. it was later determined that Allen was operating the vehicle under the influence of drugs.
Allen was arrested and charged with three counts of possession of a forged instrument, and one count of tampering with evidence, all felonies. He was also charged with resisting arrest, obstruction of governmental administration and operation of a motor vehicle, misdemeanors. Allen was also cited for unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation.
Following arraignment, Allen was remanded to the Putnam County Jail in lieu of $25,000 cash bail or $50,000 bond. He is due back in Southeast Justice Court later this month to answer the charges.
